AQA GCSE science exam dates 2027
Every AQA GCSE science paper in summer 2027, with a live countdown. All six papers are in the morning session. Foundation and Higher sit the same slot, and Combined Science students sit the same dates as separate science students — only the paper length and code differ.

When is each paper?
Biology Paper 1 is on Tuesday 11 May 2027 and Biology Paper 2 on Thursday 10 June 2027. Chemistry Paper 1 is on Monday 17 May 2027 and Chemistry Paper 2 on Tuesday 15 June 2027. Physics Paper 1 is on Tuesday 25 May 2027 and Physics Paper 2 on Friday 18 June 2027.
That gives you roughly four weeks between Paper 1 and Paper 2 in each subject — which matters more than most students realise. The content of Paper 2 is still worth revising after the Paper 1 exams begin, because you have a full month of the exam period to use.
How long is each paper?
Combined Science: Trilogy papers are 1 hour 15 minutes each, and there are six of them — Biology, Chemistry and Physics, Papers 1 and 2. Separate science papers (GCSE Biology 8461, GCSE Chemistry 8462, GCSE Physics 8463) are 1 hour 45 minutes each, also six papers in total.

AQA’s published start time for every morning exam is 9.00am — but that is not a guarantee, and it is worth knowing why.
The timetable’s own notes say schools and colleges may start an exam up to 30 minutes before the published time, and may delay it by up to 30 minutes, in both cases without notifying AQA. So a morning paper can legitimately begin anywhere between 8.30am and 9.30am, depending on your school.
Most schools run to 9.00am in practice, but never turn up on the strength of a website. Go by the personal exam timetable your school gives you — that is the one that counts.
