At room temperature and pressure, one mole of any gas takes up 24 dm³.

How to do it — step by step

  1. volume (dm³) = moles × 24.  (moles = volume ÷ 24)

Worked example

Volume of 0.5 mol of CO2 at rtp.
= 0.5 × 24 = 12 dm³
