Ways to summarise a set of results. Mean = add them up ÷ how many. Median = the middle value. Mode = the most common. Range = biggest − smallest.
How to do it — step by step
Mean = total ÷ number of values.
Range = largest value − smallest value.
Worked example
Data: 4, 6, 8, 6, 6.
Mean = (4+6+8+6+6) ÷ 5 = 30 ÷ 5 = 6. Range = 8 − 4 = 4.
