Rate (change ÷ time)

A rate is how much something changes ÷ how long it took. In biology: oxygen bubbles per minute, water lost per hour, product made per second.

How to do it — step by step

  1. rate = change ÷ time.
  2. Watch the units asked for (per second, per minute, per hour…).

Worked example

A pondweed releases 60 bubbles in 2 minutes.
rate = 60 ÷ 2 = 30 bubbles per minute
