Ohm’s law (V = I R)

Potential difference = current × resistance: V = I R. Volts (V), amps (A), ohms (Ω).

How to do it — step by step

  1. V = I R.
  2. Rearrange: I = V ÷ R, or R = V ÷ I.

Worked example

2 A flows through a 6 Ω resistor.
V = 2 × 6 = 12 V
