Work done (W = F s)

Work done = force × distance moved (in the direction of the force). Measured in joules (J) — doing work transfers energy.

How to do it — step by step

  1. work done = force × distance.
  2. W = F s. (Rearrange: force = work ÷ distance.)

Worked example

A 20 N force pushes a box 3 m.
W = 20 × 3 = 60 J
