The pressure at a depth in a liquid: p = h ρ g (depth × density × gravitational field strength). This is Higher tier and separate (Triple) Physics only.

How to do it — step by step

  1. p = h ρ g.
  2. depth h in m, density ρ in kg/m³, g ≈ 9.8 N/kg.

Worked example

Depth 2 m in water, ρ = 1000 kg/m³, g = 9.8 N/kg.
p = 2 × 1000 × 9.8 = 19 600 Pa
